NJ State AFL-CIO E-Activist Network

Greetings,

Thank you for joining the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Retirees E-Activist Network. With only 20 days left until the election, it is essential to know what issues directly affect New Jersey's retirees.

Only one of the candidates – Governor Jon Corzine – recognizes that after a lifetime of hard work, seniors should be able to retire comfortably and not have to worry about losing their homes and all that they've worked for over the years.

The economic recession has permeated every corner of our nation, leaving no person unscathed from its volatile and damaging effects. Seniors especially can attest to this fact, and there are an alarming number of retirees being forced out of retirement and into a virtually nonexistent job market as a result of out-of-control health care costs and ever increasing property taxes.

Recognizing the urgency of this situation Governor Corzine:

  • Expanded eligibility for the "Senior Freeze" Program allowing an additional 70,000 seniors to receive state property tax relief.
  • Expanded eligibility for home energy and heating assistance programs for seniors.
  • Established the New Jersey Prescription Drug Retail Price Registry, providing easier access to prescription drug benefits.
  • Funded nutrition programs for the elderly.
  • Advanced long-term care initiatives that increased home and community care based options so seniors can stay in their homes.

We urge you to talk to your friends and neighbors about these issues. Remind them that Jon Corzine is the only candidate who will look out for New Jersey's seniors during the next four years.

We look forward to communicating with you during the remainder of this race and on future initiatives concerning retirees. To learn more please CLICK HERE. Thank you again for joining the Retirees E-Activist network.
