NWA AFA MEC STATEMENT - DELTA SENIORITY INTEGRATION ANNOUNCEMENT

We have received the below announcement and recommendation from the Delta Seniority Integration Committee.  As we have stated in the past, as well as asserted in the lawsuit that was filed last November, any integration talks are premature at this time.  It is our position that our representation election must take place before any negotiation over seniority integration should be attempted.  As you know, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA merger policy provides a “date-of-hire” methodology for seniority integration.   Please stay tuned to the MEC Hotline as more information comes available.  Stay strong, stay united, and take care of each other on the line.

DELTA SENIORITY INTEGRATION COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT

The pre-merger Delta In-Flight Seniority Integration Committee on Wednesday announced its position on a fair and equitable seniority integration method for the combined Delta/Northwest flight attendant workgroup.

The committee has decided on a methodology using the flight attendants’ In-Flight seniority date. That means flight attendants would be slotted into the list based on the seniority date they currently use for bidding purposes.

“We are pleased that the In-Flight Seniority Integration Committee has reached a decision, and we are in the process of reviewing their position,” said Joanne Smith, s.v.p.-In-Flight Service. “My thanks go out to the 14 members of the committee who worked tirelessly on behalf of the flight attendants these last few months. Directly involving our people in the seniority integration process is a testament to our partnership with frontline employees.”

The seniority integration process continues for employees in Airport Customer Service, Cargo and Reservation Sales. Smaller groups that have seniority-based employees will work directly with Delta leaders to help identify a fair and equitable result for their group.
