HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

"Thanksgiving comes to us out of the prehistoric dimness, universal to all ages and all faiths. At whatever straws we must grasp, there is always a time for gratitude and new beginnings." - J. Robert Moskin

Local Executive Council 94 thanks you for your hard work and for taking care of each other on the line.   We are proud of our members' professionalism and continued caring attitude, despite the difficult times we are experiencing.

REVIEW OF CREW ORDERS

Remember to always ask for "Review of Crew Orders" (Green book, p. 6.17) when in doubt of the legality of your assignment by Crew Scheduling.  "Flight attendants shall comply with crew orders, but should it later be found that the flight attendant is correct; he/she shall receive additional pay for the entire duty period(s) flown in error..."   Report any suspected violations to Local 94, to file a grievance.

UPCOMING CONTRACT IMPLEMENTATION

Reserve Magnet days are slated to begin in the coming weeks, as well as PPP (Premium Pay Patterns), and Time Available option for Unable to Commute and No Shows.  One Way Trades will soon (probably yet this month) be processed as open trades.  The major change is that these trades will essentially be seniority-based instead of the current system of having to "sell and shop" the mutual trade board.  The trade board will still exist, but it is not necessary unless a f/a wishes to "advertise" their pattern as being available.

COMING SOON

The OPEN TIME screen in ACCESS will provide an entry to filter the results by pattern class.  For example: you can select PCT2 to view all two-segment turn-around patterns available.

DID YOU KNOW?

With Time Available you may pick up a pattern that satisfies the entire TA obligation during the footprint of the lost pattern or you can pick up trips outside the footprint to satisfy the TA in part or in whole.   If trips are picked up outside the "footprint," the TA will remain for all days until every minute has been made up. For example: TA for a 5dp/25:00 hr pattern,   FA picks up 24 hours, would still be TA for 5 days for the remaining 1 hour of TA obligation.

DUTY FREE DEPOSIT PROBLEMS

After recent reports of problems with depositing Duty Free of Canada checks, the company has offered to "test" an assortment of banks by attempting to deposit Duty Free of Canada checks.   Some members have experienced delay, rejection, or a fee for deposit of these checks, due to being drawn on a foreign bank.  If you experience any problems with this, please report it to Local 94.

NEXT LOCAL COUNCIL MEETING

The next Local Council Meeting will take place on January 9, 2008 in the Local 94 office, under gate 8.  Please save the date to meet your newly elected/re-elected Local Executive Council.  Your new Officers are: President Diana Mitcham, Vice President John O'Donnell, Secretary Anthony Hytche, Local Council Rep Belea Bower, Local Council Rep Daniel Grey, Local Council Rep Jeff Martoia, and Local Council Rep Janette Rook.   The term of office begins January 1, 2008 and is a 3 year term.

The Local 94 office is normally open M-F, from 9-5, under Gate 8 on the apron level.  Occasionally the office will be closed during these hours due to representational meetings with flight attendants and managers, down the hall at Inflight.   Our office number is 734-532-8404.  We are available by email at lec94@nwaafa.org.  For the Thanksgiving holiday we will be in the office Thursday, November 22nd from 9 am to 2 pm.  On Friday, November 23rd, we will be in the office from 10 am to 4 pm.
