Reserve Duty Releases

Hundreds of Reserve Duty Releases (Green book p. 7.10) have been awarded over the Thanksgiving holiday so far.  These will be noted on a Reserve’s line as “RH” and/or “RM.”  These are free releases (there is no loss to Reserve guarantee) and they do not result in a loss of Holiday Pay.  The AFA Scheduling Committee has worked hard to have the notification of these Duty Releases be moved up in the Scheduling notification queue, so Reserves may start to see an increase in auto-dialer notification of this type of release.  Usually these happen when the Reserve is going into days off.

NWA Benefits Open Enrollment Starts November 27th

Don’t forget to enroll in benefits from November 27th to December 13th for the 2008 calendar year.

December Reserve Numbers

Critical Bid was not utilized in DTW for December and that is good news for many.  Unfortunately, the resulting open time residual was concentrated over only a few days over the holidays.  This open time could not be used to create legal lines, thus resulting in a large number of Reserves (930 or 28% of the base.)  Nearly half of Reserves received a duplicate line.  A duplicate line occurs when SLIC reaches its mathematical limit on possible combinations.  All Reserve lines after this limit will receive 1 of 2 duplicate lines (single day option or double day option.)  Anyone with an Incomplete Line (i.e. less than required 12 days off) should contact Scheduling by November 27th to complete his/her line.

January Early Out Severance Release Dates Announced

The remainder of the Early Out releases will be accomplished in January 2008.  Bidding for the January 14th 2008 Early Out Release will close on Friday, December 5, 2007, at 2359 CT.  The 225 releases will be awarded by no later than 1700 CT on Monday, December 10, 2007.  If you do not bid for Jan 2008 Release, you will be considered to have bid for the January 31st date.
