Question:
Has the challenge/protest of the ratification vote been
withdrawn? Answer:
Yes, Guy Meek has withdrawn his challenge of the
ratification vote. AFA Legal and our NWA MEC are
investigating whether anyone else from the ‘Committee for
a Fair Vote’ will pursue this challenge/protest. An
announcement and more information will be forthcoming for the
new Equity Claim distribution date. The Northwest AFA
Master Executive Council plans to give the flight attendants
ample notice, so that they may change their 401K contributions,
and are coordinating a distribution date with NWA
Payroll.
Question: If
the Equity Claim is in an interest bearing account, what will
happen to the interest?
Answer: The
interest will be paid out the flight attendants. The last
estimate for the interest was approximately
$180,000.
Question:
Will there be a recount?
Answer:
BallotPoint already processed a recount the same day of the
vote, because it was so close.
Question:
What were the details of the challenge brought forward by
the ‘Right to a Fair Vote’ Committee regarding the
ratification vote?
Answer:
There are 17 items in the challenge. If you would like
a copy of the letter, please write to lec94@nwaafa.org or come into
the Local 94 office.
Question: Will flight attendants
receive Profit Sharing?
Answer:
Yes, we are eligible for Profit Sharing (aka “Success
Sharing” on RADAR) now that we have a contract.
Please reference LOA #7 in the contract for more
details.
Question: When will the Buyout
(Early Out Severance Package) bidding begin?
Answer: Buyout
information was sent out today via CENTRY email. Bidding
closes July 15th at 23:59 Central
time.
Question:
What is happening with the 70 hour minimum issue for
bidding?
Answer: The
union filed an immediate grievance and this has been scheduled
for an expedited arbitration date in June. The union does
not agree that there was an agreement to delay implementation of
this item to the onset of PBS in April
2008.
Question: Do we have a contract and is
it in effect?
Answer: Yes. There are some
delays allowed for programming, but the items that do not
require this should have been implemented on date of
signing.
Question: Is
it true that the union will now be handling our pension?
Answer: No. This is
misinformation and it appears that NWA Benefits confused AFA
pension with the IAM pension when members called to ask about
it. AFA Pension Plan was frozen in September 2006 and will
be administered by NWA. Under the new contract, you will
receive a defined 401K contribution. The contribution is
based upon Years of Service + Age. Please see Section 30
of the contract and the June 13th CENTRY email for more
details.
Question: Can you tell us who is running
for the Master Executive Council and Committees?
Answer:
Please
contact the MEC (9 Local Presidents) for the most up to date
list of candidates at lecp@nwaafa.org. If you
are interested in applying for a position as an MEC Officer or a
MEC Committee Chair, please submit a Letter of Interest and
Resume to one of the Local Presidents. These positions are
filled by a majority vote of the MEC. Any feedback
regarding candidates may be submitted to Local 94 at lec94@nwaafa.org. Please
visit www.nwaafa.org and www.afa94.org for more
information on this and links to pay dues, change your address,
a full list of union contact numbers, etc.
Always carry your Contract and ask for a Review of Crew
Orders, if in doubt of the legality of an assignment by Crew
Scheduling.
