Important – Flight Cancellations Affecting Commuters 

Please be aware that the recent dramatic increase in flight cancellations has caused some problems for our commuters trying to report to work.  Please review the Unable to Commute Policy on ATLAS if you have any questions regarding this program.  As a commuter you are allowed 2 Unable to Commutes in a 12 month period before you incur any discipline for dependability.  New provisions in the contract allow you to elect whether you are Time Available when you receive a No Show or Unable to Commute.  Please report it to Local 94 if you are not allowed the choice, so that we may file a grievance.

Performance Incentive Program

Today Northwest distributed the quarterly Performance Incentive Program payout.  Northwest's communication has been somewhat confusing on this issue.  Flight Attendants are eligible for all future payments for both the Profit Sharing Program (paid out 1 time per year) and Performance Incentive Program (paid quarterly.)  Northwest announced that AFA flight attendants will not receive the 1st Quarter payout for this Performace Incentive Program because we did not have a contract during the 1st Quarter of 2007.  The approximate amount for the Performance Incentive was $65 per individual.  Please refer to Letter of Agreement #7 in the agreement and RADAR for more information about "Success Sharing" (Profit Sharing + Performance Incentive.)

Master Executive Council Election Update

Last week our Master Executive Council (comprised of the 9 Local Council Presidents) elected our new MEC President Kevin Griffin (HNL) and our new Vice President Albert Garcia (SFO) and they will assume office on July 1, 2007.  We are pleased to welcome them and we thank our current and outgoing MEC Officers: MEC President Jay Hong, MEC Vice President Andy Wisbacher and MEC Secretary-Treasurer Bill Ianuzi for their service during the past several difficult months.  The MEC Secretary-Treasurer position is unfilled at this time.  Please submit your feedback regarding the candidates for this position, or your Letter of Interest for MEC Secretary-Treasurer, to our Local President Susan Ludwig at lec94@nwaafa.org or the entire MEC (all Local 9 Presidents) at lecp@nwaafa.org.
