Dear friend,
New York City has seen the fastest job growth in retail and
service industries that generally pay less than jobs in our
disappearing middle-wage industries. Are good retail jobs the
key to ending the recession?
Tonight, a panel discussion and community forum will
be held from 6-8 pm on the issues faced by grocery
store employees and grocery store operators in a recovering
economy. The discussion will be moderated by Mimi
Rosenberg of WBAI's Building Bridges and
feature local retail employers, policy experts, supermarket
executives and union leaders. Current Upper East Side market
Agata & Valentina employees will also share
why they are struggling to attain the American Dream.
