The House and Senate are now working out the difference between the two budget plans.  The Senate budget will force school districts to the ballot and offers no new ideas.  We want to urge conferess to improve Ohio's economic future by supporting the Governor's education reforms.

I am writing to you as members of the Conference Committee to inform you of our specific recommendations about the Senate's version of the budget as you work on reconciling Am. Sub. HB1.

OFT supports the House version of the Governor's education reform plan with its evidence-based model. The House plan will improve Ohio's economic future by improving education no matter where a child lives. I urge the Conference Committee to support education reform that helps prepare our children for the future and strengthens our state's economy without further delay.

I support the House budget version that keeps the continuing license at five years. Holds all charter schools accountable. Supports higher education and funds the closing the achievement gap initiative.
