Greetings,

THERE ARE 150 CONTRACTED OUT CUSTODIANS AT CAMPUS THAT WORK AT UCI BUT DON'T WORK FOR UCI. BECAUSE OF THIS, THEY'RE PAID AWFUL WAGES AND EVEN WORSE BENEFITS. IT'S UP TO US TO PRESSURE UC TO MAKE ENDING POVERTY A PRIORITY BY DIRECTLY EMPLOYING THESE CUSTODIANS.

ON JANUARY 30, 2009 UCI IS HAVING THE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR THE NEW HOSPITAL. UC HAS INVITED DONORS AND DIGNITARIES FOR THE EVENT. IT'S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DEMONSTRATE AGAINST CONTRACTING OUT JOBS AT UC AND TO SUPPORT THE LOWEST PAID WORKERS AT UCI.
