Greetings,

Our Brothers and Sisters from the Machinist District Lodge 725 went on strike last week, at Cytec that produces sensitive aeronautical parts for the military and airline industry.

Their major concerns are:

Mandatory overtime- currently they have to work 50+ hours a week and the company wants to force them to work more. Certain hour requirements need to be met in order to get weekends off. In order to get Saturday off, an employee must work 60 hours per week. Sunday off requires 56 hours per week.

Lack of necessary training- Cytec composites require sensitive technology and they are not providing training for their employees.

Elimination of 'past practice'- if a worker wins a grievance, the company would not acknowledge it in order to help other workers with similar cases.

In coordination with them, we are planning a major picket and rally this coming Thursday May 21st starting at 4:30 PM. (Picket will start at 4:30 PM, program and speakers at 5 PM) at the site in Anaheim.

They are on the picket line 24/7 at Cytec (1440 N. Kraemer Blvd Anaheim, CA 92806) Any questions can be referred to the Machinist Business Rep, Joel Ochoa (916) 769-0758 or Julio Perez from the Orange County Labor Federation at (714) 385-1534
