Invest in America, Not Iraq

Even as he continues to spend countless billions on his war in Iraq, President Bush has vowed to veto a major upcoming spending bill that invests in America.

On July 17, Congress passed the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education appropriation bill — legislation that funds programs and services for millions of low- and middle-income families.  But Republican leaders are pressuring members of Congress to support the President's upcoming veto.

Will your members of Congress vote to invest in America or will they blindly follow the President and his misguided priorities?

Send a letter to your Representative now and tell them to invest in America, not Iraq.

We encourage you to edit the letter below as you wish, fill out the form to the right, and then click "send this message."

Subject: Invest in America, not in Iraq

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I urge you to invest in America by overriding any veto of the Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill that increases funding for critical programs and services. Additional funds are urgently needed for child care assistance, job training, student loans, health services, early childhood education and more.

President Bush has promised to veto this legislation, even as he continues to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on his Iraq War. I urge you to vote to override his veto.

Please vote to invest in America, not Iraq.

Sincerely,
