Greetings,

Yesterday, President Bush vetoed the bill that funds many vital services in our communities. Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will attempt to override the President's veto. It won't be easy, because we need a two-thirds majority to override a presidential veto.

Send a letter to your representative today and demand that a vote to override the President's veto. Tell your representative that if we can find money for the war in Iraq, we can invest in vital services for our communities at home.

Late last week, Congress sent President Bush the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations bill. This crucial legislation had strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate because it provides modest spending increases for important services such as job training, child care, Head Start and health care.

Coming just a day after Veterans Day, the President's veto is especially outrageous because the bill addresses critical needs for veterans, including research on traumatic brain injuries and health care services.

The President's veto cannot stand. Congress can — and must — override it. Write your representative now and demand support for vital needs at home by voting to override the President's veto. It's time to invest in America.

Click here to take action now.

Sincerely,

Tracey Conaty
