Act Now! U.S. Senate to Debate Medicare Drug Negotiation
The U.S. Senate will debate a bill this week to permit Medicare negotiations with drug companies for lower prescription drug prices. The U.S. House passed legislation in January mandating Medicare negotiations. The drug industry is spending millions to stop this legislation. Its friends in the Senate are threatening a filibuster. Its best friend, President Bush, is threatening a veto. We must tell our senators to stand with seniors and not the drug industry.
The Senate bill, known as S. 3, will repeal the provision in the Medicare drug law that forbids negotiations with drug companies.
Here’s what you can do:
1. Please email the attached letter to your senators today.
2. Please call your senators’ offices using this toll free number 1-877-331-1223 and ask them to vote for S. 3.
3. Forward this email to friends and ask them to write and call.

Subject: Vote for S. 3 and Help Seniors
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am writing to ask you to vote for S. 3, the Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2007. As you know, Americans pay the highest prescription drug prices in the world and seniors use prescription drugs more than any other age group. This bill will help to bring down prices and make needed prescription drugs more affordable. This legislation is a critical first step in making Medicare Part D work for seniors. I urge you to support it.
Sincerely,
