Greetings,
Can you ask
easy questions? For example: "How do you like work benefits,
such as 8% yearly raises, quality health care, and family
leave?" "Do you know how important strong TA/GA membership
in the union is to securing these benefits?"
Easy, right? And of
course you know! You signed up as a union member because you
KNOW we've secured great contracts these last few rounds only
due to the record-high levels of TA/GA membership and
involvement by... well, people like you. (Thanks!)
You also know that
NOW MORE THAN EVER, with budget cuts looming amidst dire
messages from Rutgers' central administration, we need a strong
showing of union support to safeguard our contractual victories
and protect our rights. Of course, membership forms don't sign
themselves... but, then, all it really takes are a few easy
questions.
Summer is the perfect time to shore up our
numbers with a membership drive--so let's do it! Your friendly
neighborhood Steering
Committee will be out THIS WEDNESDAY, June 3, visiting
other TAs and GAs on campus and asking easy questions.
And naturally... we need help! Join us at 3pm
in front of the Food Science Building, located on Dudley Road on
the Cook Campus (here's a map). After the
membership drive, we'll head on up to Evelyn's Restaurant
and Bar in New Brunswick for some cold drinks on a warm
summer day. (If it rains, we'll go to Harvest Moon Brewery and
Cafe instead).
(If you're just too busy for the membership
drive, you're still welcome to join us at Evelyn's. We'll be easy to spot. Just look for
all the blue and red union shirts--you can't miss us!)
That's:
