Greetings,
Graduate employees are beginning to receive their
appointment letters for 2009-2010. These letters contain incorrect
information. They
do not include the 8% raise negotiated by the union and imply
that the stated, incorrect salary is in accordance with
contractual provisions.
The TA/GA
Steering Committee, in conjunction with our fellow union members
and leaders, encourage all graduate employees to sign the waiver
form accompanying your appointment letter, but we suggest that
you add one of the following messages on the waiver
form:
Academic Year appointment
If you are on an academic year appointment (September
2009 – June 2010): “Pending any negotiations between
my union and the University, I expect that my salary should be
no less than the contractual minimum of $23,112 for my academic
year
appointment.”
OR
Calendar
Year appointment
If you are on a calendar year
appointment (July 2009 – June 2010): “Pending any
negotiations between my union and the University, I expect that
my salary should be no less than the contractual minimum of
$26,348 for my calendar year appointment.”
Please
direct any questions to taga@rutgersaaup.org.
In
solidarity,
TA/GA Steering Committee
