Greetings,

The year is off to a great start, and we're ready to start celebrating! Join us this Friday for our first monthly "Thank the Organizers!" party... which we could just as well call "Thank the Members!" It's really your support that makes us strong. But then, there are also those few who step up to make it happen, and we want a special chance to clink glasses and let them know how much we appreciate it! We'll have plenty of beer, wine, soda, snacks... and dance music, courtesy of our own 90.3 The Core DJ (and AAUP-AFT Vice President!) Joseph Dwyer. Don't miss it!

Remember, one great organizer will get a $100 prize for signing the most members this month! The number to beat is six, and there's still time! Our current leader basically just gathered his GA friends together and signed them all on the spot--most of them didn't even know they weren't members already! Meanwhile, we have an IMPORTANT Steering Committee meeting tonight (Wednesday, September 30) at 6 PM at the AAUP-AFT office at 11 Stone Street in New Brunswick. We'll be in the conference room. Sorry for the late notice. No need to RSVP! We'll be discussing the status of Summer/Winter Session contract negotiations, developing our positions, deciding where we really need to stand strong and where there's room for compromise. If you've ever taught a Summer/Winter class, or you ever expect to, this meeting is for you! If you just want to get in on the exciting world of union bargaining, we'd love to hear your input, too.
