Greetings,

AAUP-AFT Election 2009 Labor Walk Volunteers
RSVP: Patrick Nowlan
pnowlan@rutgersaaup.org for Sun, Oct 25 between 1-4 PM in Highland Park, or other opportunities to be a visible presence! Schedule at bottom of this message.

On Sunday afternoon, October 25, AAUP-AFT and other AFT Rutgers neighbors and friends will walk door-to-door in Highland Park talking to fellow union members about re-electing Jon Corzine as Governor and electing Loretta Weinberg as the first Lt. Governor of New Jersey.

Invest 2-3 hours on Sunday afternoon, October 25, to help ensure that we New Jerseyans do not end up fighting back against regressive policies rather than moving forward for better education, health care, and workplace rights.

Your visible presence in this election is vital for continued access to a Governor who listens. We have not always agreed with Governor Corzine, but he respects our right to defend our members. The Republican and Independent candidates do not!

The Lt. Governor candidate, Senator Loretta Weinberg, has been a fierce and feisty advocate on our behalf. For example, she led the fight for a health impact study of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield's proposed conversion to a for-profit health insurance company. The conversion process will not go forward without this thorough examination of its impact on health care for all New Jerseyans, due to her leadership.
