Help Get-Out-the-Vote for Corzine/Weinberg
Greetings,
You can help make a difference in this critical race for
governor! Here are the opportunities to work with other AAUP-AFT
volunteers:
1. The phone bank is Wednesday, October 28
from 5-8 PM and the meet-up location is in North Brunswick.
Volunteers are union members and we call only union households.
Details when you click "Take Action."
2. The Labor
Walk is Saturday, October 30 from 9-12 Noon and the meet-up
location is also in North Brunswick. We walk as a team, union
members canvassing door-to-door to households where there are
union members. It's the last opportunity to talk to neighbors
before the election!
3. On Election Day, November 3, you
can help Get-Out-the-Vote by canvassing or phone banking or a
little of both. We'll have all the details in a few days.
Click the "Take Action" button to see more details on all
these opportunities and, then, let us know if we can count on
you.
More editorial endorsements for
Corzine:
The Bergen Record endorses Corzine.
They note the strength that NJ State Senator Loretta Weinberg
brings to the ticket in the new position of Lieutenant Governor
because she is a skilled legislator who is an "honest broker"
that Corzine will need to be more effective. Read the full
endorsement here: http://www.northjersey.com/news/opinions/record_endorsement_102309.html
The Trenton Times says Corzine deserves
re-election because he has many real achievements, although the
national recession's impact in New Jersey has tended to obscure
them. These accomplishments include reducing state spending for
two consecutive years, reducing the state work force by
8,400 without layoffs, expanding the senior tax freeze, and
ending multiple office holding for new legislators. Read the
full analysis of the candidates here: http://www.nj.com/opinion/times/editorials/index.ssf?/base/news-1/1256363164150360.xml&coll=5
