As a student and registered voter from your state and district, I wanted to show my support for the recently passed budget, S. Con. Res. 13. I feel that this budget prioritizes issues that are important to me, like an affordable higher education and future economic investment. This budget is in line with President Obama's proposal to convert the Pell Grant program to a full entitlement and allow for increases in future years. This provision is particularly important to me because the Pell grant is the cornerstone of student aid in America and helps millions of students realize their dream of graduating from college. As a full entitlement, the Pell grant program will offer needed stability and predictability for working families paying for college today and for years to come.

As an active member of the electorate, higher education is really important to me and I hope that you will ensure that the Pell grant continues to be a priority in the 111th congress. I support ending unnecessary subsidies to lenders in the Federal Family Education Loan Program and the transition to the Direct Lending. College students, like me, all across our state are graduating with thousands of dollars in loan debt. We need you to protect student aid programs like the Pell grant to so that higher education is accessible for all young people.
