Connect DC

Verizon is leaving DC behind.

Verizon is building a world-class, high-speed network – called FiOS – throughout the metropolitan area -- but not in DC. The company is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build high-speed telecommunications networks in suburban Maryland and Virginia, but has built nothing in DC. Residents of the District of Columbia deserve better.

Verizon is neglecting its customers by denying DC access to the best available technology. Once again, our children, our neighborhoods, and our local businesses will be left waiting.

Subject: Verizon - Connect DC

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Verizon is leaving DC behind.

Verizon is building a world-class, high-speed network - called FiOS - throughout the metropolitan area -- but not in DC. The company is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to build high-speed telecommunications networks in suburban Maryland and Virginia, but has built nothing in DC.

As residents of the District of Columbia, we deserve better. As an industry leader, Verizon has the responsibility and the resources to uphold high standards by investing in quality telephone service and high-speed networks built and serviced by DC residents in DC facilities.

While the company is bringing cutting edge technology, good jobs and quality service to consumers in Maryland and Virginia, the quality of Internet and phone service in DC is steadily declining. Verizon is no longer investing sufficient time and money in existing networks. Consumers in DC must bear a double burden: deteriorating service AND a lack of investment in new technology.

In addition, Verizon is leaving its own workers behind, moving jobs out of DC and into areas where Verizon is profiting from FiOS.
