to Protect Jobs at the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch! Contact Publisher Kevin Mowbray as the
Post-Dispatch continues to lay off workers and request he bring
those people back to work.
Stand in solidarity
with our sisters and brothers at the Newpaper Guild as they
continue to fight layoffs at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The St. Louis Newspaper Guild recently began early contract
bargaining for their contract, which expires in June 2009.
Midway through these bargaining negotiations, the
company indicated that it intended to lay off a number of Guild
members regardless of any success at the bargaining
table. The Newspaper Guild was stunned by this
announcement and promptly ended bargaining on September 25,
2008.
On September 26, the
Post-Disptach promptly laid off 20 guild members, making
the total number of laid off workers this year an astounding
69 while the company continues to be
profitable. While not all of these jobs were
guild employees, much of this work is being outsourced
to other locations and out of our
community. Take Action NOW!
Contact Publisher Kevin Mowbray at 314-340-8970 or
kmowbray@post-dispatch.com
and tell him to put post-dispatch workers back on the
job!
