URGENT!
Protect MO's Minimum Wage for Tipped
Employees
UPDATE: The Missouri House of Representatives passed a
weakened version of HB258 on April 16, 2009. Now it's time to
make sure the Senate does the right thing.
In 2006, 76.4% of Missourians voted to pass Proposition B to
raise the wage for ALL Missouri workers, including tipped
employees.Now, this bill is threatening to freeze
servers pay at $3.52 and not allow adjustments based on Cost of
Living increases.
We must act NOW! CLICK HERE
NOW, to tell the Missouri Senate that the
citizens of Missouri want to protect the wages of 53,240 tipped
employees.

Rally for The Employee Free Choice
Act
Missouri Jobs with Justice along with effected workers will
be rallying outside as Karl Rove speaks to The Missouri Chamber
of Commerce and Industry & The Economic Freedom Alliance.
The topic of his discussion will be the impact of the
Employee Free Choice Act.
The Rally will take place outside of The St. Louis
Club 7701 Forsyth on the corner of Forsyth and Hanley.
Transportation will be available from this rally to the "Save
Our Jobs" Rally in downtown St. Louis afterward. For more

Alliance for American Manufacturing for a "Save Our Jobs Rally".

The rally will take place at Kiener Plaza in Downtown

Breakfast Series
A discussion of new and existing laws impacting workers in
the current economic climate including the COBRA susbsidy and
Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program in the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), the PPA, and the
interaction of negoteates benefits with state and federal
provisions. Presenters include Rhona Lyons, Rochelle Skonick and
Patrick Shinners.
The Breakfast Buffet starts at 8AM and the presentation
begins at 8:30AM. The Labor Law breakfast will be held
at IBEW Local 1439 Hall, 2121 59th St., St. Louis MO. Use
the back enterance to the meeting hall. Parking is
available on the street, in the back lot or at the Glaziers
Hall. The cost of the Breakfast is $15 per person (if your
$150 Annual fe has not been paid)

Labor Learn Film Series: "Heaven
Will Protect the Working Girl"
Come early to the St. Louis Labor Council monthly delegate
meeting held the third Tuesday of every month. Each month,
the Labor Council offers a different film on a relevant
topic.
The film showing will be held in the same hall as the
Labor Council Meeting at IBEW Local 1, 5850 Elizabeth
Ave, 63110. The St. Louis Labor Council Meeting
will follow the film at 7:30 PM. The film is open to

& Silent Auction
The St.
Louis Chapter of the Missouri Association of Social Welfare will
hold their Annual Awards Dinner & Silent Auction to
honor Amy Smoucha, Jobs with Justice; State Representative
Rachel Storch; Bill McClellan, St. Louis Post-Dispatch; and The
St. Louis Public Library. The Keynote speaker will be
Bill McClellan.
Tickets
for the event are $35 per person. The Dinner & Auction will
be held at The Norman K. Probstein Clubhouse in Forest
Park. Cash bar and Silent auction will begin at 6PM,
Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM, and the program will begin at
