Greetings,

PROTEST PROPOSED CUTS TO VITAL SERVICES AND JOBS!

Community members, social workers, and the citizens they serve will gather for a rally to protest proposals to cut over 25 million dollars from the current year’s budgets of the Department of Social Services and Health and Senior Services.

These cuts would be devastating; it will mean further job losses on our struggling economy, as well as drastic cuts to the programs that help Missouri’s citizens in hard times like these.

THE SITUATION:
Despite reducing this year’s state budget by over 425 million dollars already, Governor Nixon has requested an additional 60 million dollars be cut from the state budget. The bulk of his requested cuts target the Missouri Department of Social Services and Health and Senior Services, agencies we have put into place to protect Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens, and to provide assistance to all families who are struggling in hard times such as these.   We need our public systems to be well-functioning now more than ever, and truly every job counts—these are the keys to a strong platform for our state’s recovery.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to tell Governor Nixon to protect Missouri’s Platform for Recovery, and protect the jobs and services we need!
