Missouri Servers got a raise Thanks to you! Help them keep their wages.

This last legislative session Jobs with Justice and the waiters and waitresses of the "Save Our Tips" campaign  narrowly defeated state legislation that would have excluded waiters and waitresses from increases in the minimum wage.  Because of that successful campaign nearly 60,000 waiters and waitresses got a raise last month. The fight is not over, Rep. Tim Jones (R-Eureka) has promised to try again next year.

Click HERE to find out how you can continue to help "Save our Tips".

Truthout Becomes First Online-Only News Site to Unionize

On August 27, 2009 Truthout.org's board of directors  signed a recognition statement, granting Truthout employees membership in The Newspaper Guild/Communication Workers of America. Earlier that evening, Truthout held the country's first "virtual card check," verifying union cards with faxed PDFs of each employee's signature, becoming the first online-only news site to successfully unionize.

St. Louis Jobs with Justice Leader Shannon Duffy, of the St. Louis Newspaper Guild, is Truthout's employee union representative. (Duffy also represents the staff of Missouri Jobs with Justice)
