Subject: Adopt the Sweatfree Code of Conduct!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to express my support for Seniors Against Sweatshops. As you may know, students at Casa Grande High School, as part of the Seniors Against Sweatshops, are asking the Petaluma Board of Education to pass a Code of Conduct, which stipulates that all clothes purchased in the district would be made in factories which respects its workers, treats them fairly, and pays them a decent wage. I would like to pledge my support for these efforts, and strongly urge you to join the call for workers' rights. So far, over 700 students at Casa Grande High School have signed the petition supporting the Code of Conduct. Also, many faculty and administrators at the school have announced their support for the student campaign.

Sadly, the overwhelming majority of apparel in the United States, including that purchased by our schools, is made under deplorable conditions, where workers endure a work situation comparable to slavery. Every one of us has a responsibility to change this, even if it is only in a small way, by making sure our school's apparel comes from factories where workers are treated with dignity and respect, and enjoy a living wage and affordable health care. Please help us pass this Code of Conduct, and raise the standard of living for many thousands of workers around the world. Thank You.

Sincerely,
