Our Elected Officials Need a Hint

Our elected officials just don’t seem to understand what it is like to work in the high-tech economy.  They are spending way too much time in meetings with billionaire CEO’s telling them how great it is to be a tech worker today because of all the jobs that are being created.   What is even more surprising is that they believe them!  This is happening despite all of the economic reports and economists who say otherwise.

We need to send them a message that can understand—a cartoon!  Specifically, our short animation film, “Will Work for Ramen.”  It tells the real story in a funny way and is something that even a member of congress or governor can understand!

Take action now!  Send “Will Work for Ramen” to your senators, representative and governor so they can start to understand what it’s like for tech workers to try to find a job these days.

Subject: The other side of the tech job story

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As a tech worker in this country, our side of the story about what it is really like to work in the high-tech industry these days is not getting heard. Companies are exporting jobs overseas and insourcing guest workers to fill many new jobs available. At the same time CEOs are still complaining they can't find qualified U.S. employees. It seems to me that only the CEOs are being heard on this issue - not people like me.

I have seen first hand what the down turn in the economy has meant for my friends and family. In fact, a new report http://www.techsunite.org/news/display.cfm?ID_Content=5058 showed how five years into an economic recovery we are still losing jobs.

This new short cartoon animation - http://www.techsunite.org/news/display.cfm?ID_Content=5060 - really begins to tell the story of life as a tech worker today in the U.S and puts a voice to our concerns. I encourage you to watch it and support the TechsUnite agenda for change. http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/IT_bills

Sincerely,
