Texas AFL-CIO

Greetings,

First they denied health coverage to immigrants, and I did nothing—because I was not an immigrant.

Then they denied those with pre-existent conditions, and I did nothing—because I was healthy.

Then they denied coverage to those in their late middle-age, and I did nothing—because I was young.

Then they refused to cover the unemployed, and I did nothing—because I had a job with benefits.

Then I lost my job and got sick, but it was too late—the health insurance companies and their conservative friends had already killed the public-option health care bill in Congress.

The long-standing labor goal of universal health care in the U.S. is within reach. Congress is putting the finishing touches on legislation that gives every American access to decent health care.  Help this bill reach President Obama’s desk by November.

Click here http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/healthcare2009 to tell members of Congress that we want health care for all Americans with a meaningful public option to help reduce spiraling health car costs.

Also, please make a phone call and write a letter to your federal legislators asking them to support a health care bill with a meaningful public option. For more information, click here

If you have insurance now, the pro-reform bills in Congress will not interfere with what you have. If you need insurance or if your coverage is threatened by rising costs, the pro-reform bills will help you.

Now is the time to speak up!
