United American Nurses, AFL-CIO

Dear UAN e-Activist,

Nearly 200 nurses have written to UAN to tell us their unsafe patient handling stories:  lifting morbidly obese patients without help ... turning and twisting to reposition patients ... repeating the same back-breaking motion you’ve done every day for the past ten years ... sound familiar?

We need your story, too, to show Congress why they must pass legislation to protect nurses from unsafe patient handling.

Tell us about your experiences—complete the "Not On My Back" unsafe patient handling survey on UAN’s website at http://www.uannurse.org/lift/index.html or go to http://www.uannurse.org/lift/index.html to print a PDF of the survey that can be returned to UAN via email or regular mail (addresses are on the form).

But don’t delay—UAN needs your responses by April 20!

Thank you for making safe patient handling a priority with our lawmakers.

P.S.  Want to learn more about the safe patient handling legislation introduced into Congress?  Go to http://www.uannurse.org/legislative/handling.html.

Need hard copies of the survey to distribute to your nurse colleagues?  Email UAN at UANInfo@UANNurse.org and we’ll send them to you!
