United American Nurses, AFL-CIO

Dear UAN e-Activist,

If we act now, nurses have a real chance to move Congress to guarantee that every worker has the right to organize a union and bargain a first contract on an equal footing with management.

But it won’t happen without your help.

The Employee Free Choice Act (H.R. 800/S.1046) has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives.  Now we need to move the Senate to enact this measure, which puts a stop to anti-union employers who resort to stalling and outright union-busting to subvert workers’ democratic rights.

The full Senate is due to consider EFCA next week, and Republicans have pledged to filibuster the bill to stop a vote on it.  Help us move at least 60 senators to vote to end a filibuster and pass the bill.  Call or email your senators today (call 202-224-3121 for the Capitol switchboard or go to http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm to find your senators’ email addresses) and tell them why it’s important that every worker has the protections EFCA offers.

Thank you for helping to protect the basic human right to choose a union!
