Dear UNAC/UHCP Members,

California Nurses Association (CNA) has called a one-day strike for Friday, October 30th at 37 hospitals in California and Nevada and UNAC/UHCP is asking its members to show solidarity with their fellow health care professionals by honoring the picket lines.

The Southern California hospitals that will be affected are St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, St. Bernadine Medical Center in San Bernardino, St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles, California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles and Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center.

UNAC/UHCP is aware that many of our members have received phone calls from registries seeking RNs to cross CNA’s picket lines and work at the hospitals on strike.  We are asking that you refrain from doing so.  It is vitally important that we support our nurse sisters and brothers, for their struggle to provide quality patent care is our struggle as well.

CNA’s strike is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM on October 30th and to last until 7:00 AM on October 31, 2009.  UNAC/UHCP feels confident thanking you in advance, for we know that our members can always be counted upon to do the right thing.

In Unity,

Kathy J. Sackman, RN

President, UNAC/UHCP
