Justice for Building Trades

The convention center hotel is going to be built using state tax dollars. The developer has agreed to a neutrality agreement for the workers who will work inside the hotel. However, the best local workers should be building the project. We need you to send a message to the developer to sign an agreement with the Building Trades.

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I applaud you and your company for agreeing to a neutrality agreement for the workers that will work for the new Syracuse Convention Center Hotel.

However, it is important that this building is done with the best local labor that our community has to offer. The best way to accomplish this goal would be to sign an agreement with the Central and Northern New Building Trades Council.

Please sign an agreement that ensures that the project is done by trained local construction workers. For too many projects in our area, workers are brought in from other areas of the country or the world to complete tasks that could be done better and faster by trained local labor. Don?t be like one of those developers.
