1. URA-AFT to Boycott Rutgers President's Address
Friday
Over the past month, Rutgers university management has failed
to talk and failed to deliver promised proposals while
continuing to withhold contracted raises and lay off workers.
The Union of Rutgers Administrators—American Federation of
Teachers' (URA-AFT) petitioned management, took out ads in
newspapers and distributed a public letter at the opening day
football game denouncing the university’s callous
disregard for workers. With no response from management, the
union is calling for members to boycott president Richard
McCormick's annual address to the university community
Friday.

3. Corzine or Christie? Make Your
Choice On the Issues URA-AFT members are looking for
information about the candidates' positions on the issues.
URA-AFT will link to Gov. Corzine's response to the AFT
candidates' questionnaire on education, higher education, health
care and worker's rights. Candidate Christie has thus far
refused to complete the questionnaire.
"The URA-AFT legislative committee wants to make sure URA
members are making informed decisions about the respective
candidates' positions, which is the most important consideration
for voters," said legislative chair Helen Pirrello.
URA-AFT president Lucye Millerand was tapped to annouce
the AFT NJ endorsement of Governor Jon S. Corzine in
his reelection bid Friday in East Brunswick. The list of AFL-CIO
endorsed candidates for assembly, which includes worker-friendly
candidates from both parties, will be posted in coming days.
