FAIR Testing Technology Fails the Test

We have received numerous complaints that valuable instructional time is being wasted every day and that students cannot get onto the computer system or it crashed during FAIR testing. UTD President, Karen Aronowitz has written to the Commissioner of Education on behalf of teachers of Miami-Dade County Public Schools.  Please take action today and let the Commissioner know that you, too, are concerend regarding the FAIR testing procedures.  Click here to read UTD President's letter.

Subject: FAIR Testing Technology

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

FAIR testing has been nothing but a frustration for the teachers and students of Miami-Dade County.

- Valuable instructional time is being wasted every day - students cannot get onto the computer system or it crashed during testing. - Students who successfully begin testing, are told that they will need to start over at another time, due to system shut-down. - There are not enough support staff available in our schools to assist K-2 teachers who are instructed to test one-on-one while continuing to instruct and monitor their classes. - The validity of the test scores have been seriously impacted by the many interruptions. - Special Education students are being asked to use technology that is beyond their capacity.

We are requesting that FAIR testing stop immediately until the state has the capacity to continue it successfully. Teachers can not be responsible such a flawed attempt.

Sincerely,
