Pay Teachers First

Greetings,

 Proposal:

  • Prioritizes teachers and classrooms
  • Requires teacher salaries be a priority over administrative salaries and bureaucracy in all school districts across the state
  • Will provide incentives for high quality professionals to remain in classroom
  • Limits ability of school board to prioritize administration
  • Provides a higher level of accountability of school board members to their voters
  • Reassures parents that the school board will focus their limited resources on having high quality teachers in the classroom

In order for this proposal to become law, we will need the support of all of our legislators.  Please take this opportunity to contact your legislator.  Thank them for their support thus far and ask them to continue the fight in Tallahassee.

Subject: Pay Teachers First

Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],

United Teachers of Dade President Karen Aronowitz spoke before the Miami-Dade Delegation Meeting about UTD's "Pay Teachers First" proposal. I want to thank you for your support of our proposal at Wednesday's press conference. If this proposal passes, it will provide incentives for high quality professionals, like myself, to remain in the classroom.

Your support sent a resounding message to our community. Teachers will no longer bear the weight of balancing our local school district's budget. Local school boards across our state will finally have to focus their limited resources on having high quality teachers in our classrooms.

I know that you have advocated on our behalf in the past. Thank you once again for leading the fight on behalf of teachers. If there is anything I can do to assist you in this endeavor, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
