Subject: Pay Teachers First
Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],
United Teachers of Dade President Karen Aronowitz spoke before you at the Miami-Dade Delegation Meeting about UTD's "Pay Teachers First" proposal. I want to thank you for your support of our proposal at the Delegation meeting. As you are aware, this proposed legislation will prioritize teachers and classrooms by requiring teacher salaries be a priority over administrative salaries. By doing so, it will provide incentives for high quality professionals, like myself, to remain in the classroom. Your support today sent a resounding message to our community. Teachers will no longer bear the weight of balancing our local school district's budget. The applause that you heard from the audience was from parents and community members who support the idea and appreciated your dedication to this issue. Local School Boards across our state will finally have to focus their limited resources on having high quality teachers in our classrooms.
I know that you have advocated on our behalf in the past and I thank you for your leadership on this issue. Thank you for once again joining us in our fight to bring this issue forward to your colleagues in Tallahassee. If there is anything I can do to assist you in this endeavor, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
