Pay Teachers First Bill
Greetings,
Pay Teacher First Bill Needs Your Help!
On Tuesday, March 31st, the Pay Teachers First Bill passed
through its first committee in the Senate. Amidst opposition
from lobbyists for school administrators, the Senate PreK-12
Education Committee unanimously passed SB 2466. Bill sponsor
Alex Villalobos expressed the need for us to focus on the
importance of the role that teachers play in educating children.
Touting the bill as a "good bill", Senator Villalobos received
strong praise from Senators Bullard, Gaetz, and Detert.
Unfortunately, the bill (HB 1323) has had no movement in the
House. We need our legislators to hear from you, their
constituents! Pay Teachers First will provide that no
administrator or manager will receive a raise prior to the
district's instructional and educational support personnel.
Please take a moment to send this message to our Miami-Dade
Delegation to let them know we need their support in moving this
important piece of legislation that supports our teachers and
school support personnel.

Subject: Pay Teacher First Bill Needs Your Help
Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],
On Tuesday, March 31st, the Pay Teachers First Bill (SB2466) unanimously passed the Senate PreK-12 Education Committee. Senate bill sponsor, Alex Villalobos expressed the need for us to focus on the importance of the role that teachers play in educating children. Touting the bill as a "good bill", Senator Villalobos received strong praise from Senators Bullard, Gaetz, and Detert.
Unfortunately, the House companion, HB1323, has not yet been heard in committee. Pay Teachers First will provide that no administrator or manager will receive a raise prior to the district's instructional and educational support personnel. We know that you value Public Education and its professionals. Help us to prioritize those that provide direct services to students. We need every State Representative's support to move this issue forward so that teachers and other front line employees will be priorities in the district's budget. Thank you to Representatives Garcia, Bullard, Planas, Roberson, Robaina, Steinberg and Zapata, our Sponsor and Co-Sponsors in the House.
Please join them in supporting teachers and school support personnel in the State of Florida. With your leadership, we can send a message reassuring parents and community members that the school district will focus their limited resources on having high quality teachers in the classroom.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

What's At Stake:
The Legislature is considering the Pay Teachers First Bill. This bill forces Superintendents to prioritize Teachers and Education Support Professionals in the budgeting process. Let?s make a law that school administrators can no longer make themselves the salary priority by urging your legislator to pass HB1323.
