The Washington State Legislature has proposed unprecedented funding cuts to our state's colleges and universities. In two-year community and technical colleges, they are planning a 10% reduction in the Senate budget and nearly 20% in the House budget. In addition, they want to offset these cuts with higher tuition.

In the midst of an economic recession and a state unemployment rate of over 8%, now is not the time to cut higher education and deny access to thousands of students. College enrollments have increased as more people are seeking new jobs, training, and education. Higher education is an economic stimulus.

Please sign this petition to Governor Gregoire and the State Legislature and ask them to stop these devastating cuts to higher education!
