Subject: Pay Laid-Off Enron Workers Their Severance

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I support demands for full severance packages for laid-off Enron workers. I am pleased to learn about Enron's recent decisions to pay some severance packages, but more must be done.

Thousands of Enron workers have lost their jobs without receiving adequate severance payments in the wake of the bankruptcy filing by the company. Most of these workers also lost thousands of dollars--their life savings--in their 401(k) plan. At the same time, other executives and "valued" employees received more than $100 million in bonuses. In past years, Enron executives netted hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation.

This outrage should be corrected. I am writing to support the demand of Enron's laid-off workers for full severance packages for employees laid off before and after Enron declared bankruptcy. I urge you not to oppose their petitions they make in court on this matter.

I realize much of what has happened at Enron occurred before you became chief executive officer. But you now have the power to correct it. I urge you to treat Enron's former employees with respect and fairness.

Sincerely,
