I urge you to reject the nomination of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and to block his appointment to this important court.

Working families depend on the courts to protect their rights at work. The District of Columbia Circuit is extremely important to working families because it hears and decides so many cases under our labor and employment laws--decisions that have national impact and that affect the lives of millions of working men and women across the United States.

Miguel Estrada has never been a judge, he refused to answer many questions during his confirmation hearing and he gave only the most evasive answers to others. He and the Bush administration have refused to provide senators with additional documents that would shed light on his legal thinking.

The Senate shouldn't reward stealth candidates with lifetime appointments to federal courts and especially not courts of national significance like the D.C. Circuit. I urge you to block Miguel Estrada's nomination and prevent his appointment to the D.C. Circuit.
