Tell President Bush and Congress: Jobs, not tax cuts for the rich!

At the same time new data reveal the average corporate CEO’s pay deal was worth more than $10.8 million last year, the big tax cut proposal advanced by President Bush and Republicans leaders would give hundreds of billions of dollars MORE to these CEOs and other wealthy taxpayers. Send a fax to President Bush, your senators and representative. Tell them to oppose Bush’s tax cuts and put working families first.

Subject: Jobs, Not Tax Cuts for the Rich!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to express my opposition to the reckless tax cut proposal Congress is considering. America's workers don't need more tax cuts for the wealthy. We need good jobs, health care, schools, prescription drugs, secure retirements and safe communities.

Recent news about excessive CEO pay deals underscores how unnecessary and ineffective these giveaways to the rich would be. Squandering the federal budget on tax cuts while the economy is faltering is the wrong choice for America. The super-rich don't need more tax cuts or special deals from the government. Our top priority must be to get the economy jump started and put people back to work. This is something we owe to our service men and women who are overseas today.

Estimates that this millionaire tax cut proposal would destroy jobs are particularly distressing. I urge you to oppose these tax cuts and make the right choices for the federal budget. This issue is one I will use to measure your commitment to working family priorities.

I await your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,
