State Budget Alert - Senate Letters
The State Legislature has passed the budget bills and restored between $2 and $2.5 billion in spending cuts proposed by the Governor, primarily in education, health care, and other essential state services. The Governor has said he will veto the budget bills. Technically, the last possible date for a veto would be Wednesday, May 14th.
This is a very pivotal and historic time in state government. The outreach we make now, and the personal letters we send, will have a significant and far reaching impact on the outcome of the debate!

Subject: Better Choice Campaign
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
Thank you for making the "Better Choice" and voting for the negotiated state budget. This budget makes the smart revenue choices in restoring funding for education, health care and essential state services without increasing our property taxes.
The New York State AFL-CIO now asks that you stand up for our common interests and vote for overrides if they become necessary. We know how hard the override vote will be. But voting with your leader and for the working men and women of this state is the right thing to do.
We know the tough votes you have already taken, and your courageous efforts will be remembered. We won't forget this override vote. Vote with your leader. It's the right thing to do.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
